Vice President of Government Affairs
Sam Verghese brings a vast array of political, business, and executive acumen in serving his clients. Through his career, Sam has held many high level public service positions such as: Secretary for the Florida Department of Elder Affairs, Chief of Staff for the agency overseeing Florida’s one million business license holders (DBPR), Senior Staff Director for the Florida House of Representatives where he managed the day-to-day affairs of more than 80 Florida Republican Representatives, and the Director of External Affairs for Governor Rick Scott in the Executive Office of the Governor.
In 2014, Sam was appointed as the youngest agency head in Florida history at his Department (DOEA) where he managed the Department’s activities and served as an advocate for the issues and programs that affect Florida’s 4.9 million seniors. He later went on to earn confirmation from all members of the Florida Senate in numerous committee hearings. During this time, Sam was also an appointee to the Career Source Florida Board of Directors which implemented numerous job creation initiatives to boost Florida’s economy.
He has also had the opportunity to serve as a founding member on multiple business entities throughout his career as well. This merging of public and private entity acumen truly gives One Eighty Consulting a unique advantage in understanding their clients’ needs, in planning an appropriate strategy, and in helping clients achieve their goals.
“The one word that comes up over and over when you ask those he’s worked with about Sam is ‘entrepreneurial,’” said Don Yaeger, president of One Eighty Consulting. “That is the mindset every client is looking for. They want experienced help that can think broadly for solutions. Sam adds an extra dimension to our firm and we couldn’t be prouder to have him on the team.”
A graduate of Liberty University, Sam and his wife Cori have three children.
